Few Things!

One: Birthday is coming in less than 6 days! :)

Two: I am painting quite a few wolves lately!

Here are some of my paintings.

One of them is a black labrador, as you can see, lol! I made that one for a family member.

I hope you like the paintings. They are all Acryllic - I'm going to try Oil paints tomorrow; they're a little harder, but more expressive. :)

In my next blog I will talk about Management Hunting, and my opinions on it.

Thanks,
Luffable~

Back on Track

Hello everybody,

I'm so sorry I stopped this. I might be able to get back on track, but... I find it extremely hard to keep up with this!
I'll try to get back to blogging.

So... in all this time I've learned that wolves are very near extinction. I'm not sure what KINDS of wolves are near extinction, or in what areas, so I looked up all the different kinds separately.
I found this while looking up 'Gray wolves':
"Gray wolves once populated large portions of North America, Europe, and Asia, but were hunted to near extinction. Their numbers have rebounded due to conservation and reintroduction efforts."

But then I went to Wikipedia, and searched up "Gray Wolf". I got their file about gray wolves, including a small chart called a Conservation Status.
That's a pretty big rebound from Near Extinction to Least Concern! They must breed a lot...

Starting to Learn

Hi everybody!

So this is my second day writing this blog. I was really interested in pack behavior today, so I looked up about that. I found some things that I've never even heard; did you know that Pack Territories vary with location? In the Alaskan or Canadian Wilderness the territory for one pack is around 300 to 1,000 square miles, while in the U.S. the territory is between 25 and 150 square miles.
I was wondering, how many pack members can a pack really have? I was trying to find a reliable source (I always check around and search the site on Google to see if they're real) and I found this strange fact; packs can have as little as 2 members or as many as 30 members! An average pack size is 6 to 8 wolves each. I always thought that wolf packs had more than 8 wolves in them, but I guess I was wrong. At least I learned something, though.

Something else sad happened today. I was looking up synonyms for "Dark" and other things so I could make up some cool names for my stories. I happened to search "Wolf" and look what I got...

1. (noun) wolf
any of various predatory carnivorous canine mammals of North America and Eurasia that usually hunt in packs
Synonyms: savage, brute, masher, beast, wild dog

What?! Savage? Brute? Beast? What are they thinking?!
I was so mad. Wolves aren't savage! Well, since I was pretty much arguing with myself, I decided to get some information to back up this claim.
My journey kind of stopped short when I looked up "Are Wolves Savage" on Google. I only got a whole bunch of pages for a Rugby team called the Savage Wolves...
Moving on!

Tomorrow I want to look up hunting behaviours in wolves. I really want to know how they work together in a civilized group to take down their prey!

Indroducing Myself

Hi!
I'm Terra Wolfe, a wolf fanatic that wants to know everything she can about wolves!

Since I've been around 6, wolves have been pretty much all I think about. I write stories (both fictional and nonfictional) that are usually only about wolves. Because of my passion for these animals, I would love to know as much as possible about these amazing creatures as I can.

I've researched about them, but so far all my work I've done is pretty much a big... heaping blob in my mind. I'm not really that organized, so I don't really remember anything now. All I know is that all these dumb stories people say about them are NOT TRUE!!!! (Boy Who Cried Wolf, Three Little Pigs, etc.) Wolves are beautiful and amazing creatures that are killed off every day by US HUMANS. People say that wolves are brutal tyrants, but it's the other way around. Besides, WE came into their homes and destroyed them; we should get payed back anyways!

Sorry about me ranting on... I can get a little carried away... ^^"
Anyway! I might not have the time to get on every day, but I hope I do! I would love to keep posting what I've learned, and get some comments on how I can get more information.

Thanks,
Terra <3

P.S. My real name is a secret. Terra Wolfe is to hide my identity. ^^
